Summer Reading For All Ages

Participants of all ages have a chance to win prizes.

Pay attention to our calendar of events to see additional events all summer long, for every age!

Finally, save the date: we will be hosting a “Summer Spectacular” event on Saturday August 15 from 1pm-3pm! Music, entertainment, crafts, lawn games, and more return to the Library to help us celebrate the end of summer reading in style! Be sure to wear items that can get wet and bring a change of clothing to have fun in the foam machine!

Summer Reading For Kids and Teens

Reading over the summer is one of the best things that kids can do to maintain their skills and give themselves a boost for the next school year. Staying active with reading keeps the mind fresh and helps make sure that students are sharp and ready at the start of the new year.

Littles: Little Gardens Grow (Ages 0–7)

Upon registration, littles will get a reading log and a flower for the garden display wall.

Complete the activities to grow your gardens – four total – and win a prize. There are four different prizes. Complete all 4 sets of activities and get a free book!

Win 1 extra drawing ticket for every summer program you attend!

Kids: Read for Beads! (Ages 7-11)

Read for 15 minutes, mark it on a reading log, and earn 1 pony bead. Pony beads can be “cashed in” for higher value beads at any time.

Kids, upon registration, you will receive a “Brag Tag” for collecting your beads, and a ticket for the drawings. You will also receive a reading log, and a flower for our garden wall display.

Kids can earn beads for any reading done between June 18 and August 18. Kids who reach a stated goal will receive a free book.

Win 1 extra drawing ticket for every summer program you attend!

Teens: Pin It to Win It! (Ages 11-17)

Fill out a pinup (response sheet) for every item read (book, audiobook, graphic, manga, nonfiction). Bring this in and earn a choice of pin – these are cool summer-themed pins for jackets, backpacks, or whatever you want. You will also get a ticket for the drawing.

PINS: Teens can earn up to 10 pins over the course of the 60 days. If they do so, they receive a Free Book.

Win 1 extra drawing ticket for every summer program you attend!

Summer Reading For Adults

Why should kids have all the fun every summer? Whether you have fond memories of summer reading from childhood or you’ve never had the chance to participate in such a program before, Falmouth Memorial Library is here to encourage adults to challenge themselves to read more during the summer!

Adults will receive a BINGO sheet filled with fun reading-related activities and each completed BINGO row/column/diagonal will earn them an entry into the final drawing.
